Real Life Situation:
A tasty local food is the Sacramonte Tortilla. Many tourists order the dish because of its traditional feel and usually find it to be very tasty. However, their delight often turns to disgust when after the meal has been eaten, the laughing restaurant owners tell their customers that the ingredients are egg, potato and animal brains. First Order Question: Are animal brains safe to eat? Are restaurateurs legally obliged to divulge the ingredients of their dishes? Second order Question: How can factual knowledge influence our perception? To what extent are our tastes directed by our culture? To what extent can humour interrupt our sense of ethics? |
